What are Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)?
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are a set of advanced technologies designed to enhance the safety and comfort of vehicles. These systems use a combination of cameras, sensors, and other technologies to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings and assist the driver in a variety of ways. Some examples include lane departure warning, forward collision warning , adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, park assist, and automatic emergency braking.
These are just a few examples of the many ADAS features that are available today. As technology continues to advance, it’s likely that we will see even more advanced ADAS systems in the future.
Why is ADAS calibration important?
Calibrating these systems is a process that ensures a vehicle’s cameras and sensors are properly aligned and functioning correctly. This is an important step to guarantee that the ADAS features work as intended and provide accurate and reliable information to the driver.
The calibration process is typically done after a vehicle collision, body repair, or replacement of the windshield, since those situations can cause the cameras or sensors to be misaligned. If not calibrated properly, the ADAS features may not work as intended and cause safety issues. Calibration plays an important role in ensuring the safety and reliability of vehicles equipped with advanced technologies.
Our Featured
Services
Camera Calibration
One of the most important services we provide is the calibration of cameras. This process involves adjusting the angle and position of the cameras to ensure that they are properly aligned and capturing accurate images.
Sensor Calibration
ADAS systems also use a variety of sensors, such as radar and lidar, to detect the vehicle's surroundings. These sensors must be properly calibrated to ensure that they are providing accurate and reliable information to the ADAS system.
System Testing
After the cameras and sensors have been calibrated, the ADAS system is tested to ensure that it is working correctly. This may involve a series of tests and checks to ensure that all of the system's features and functions are working as intended.
Repair and Maintenance
ADAS systems can malfunction or become damaged over time, and we can provide repair and maintenance services to restore the system to proper functioning.
Troubleshooting and Diagnosis
We can also can diagnose and troubleshoot any issues that may arise with the ADAS system.
Clear Explanations and Guidance
We provide clear explanations and guidance throughout the calibration process to help drivers understand how their systems work and what they can do to ensure they are working properly.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER CALIBRATION OF ADAS IN AUTO GLASS REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT FACILITIES:
WHAT ARIZONA DRIVERS SHOULD KNOW
SB 1410 is an Arizona law that specifies the requirements for facilities conducting work on a vehicle equipped with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). The law mandates that these facilities inform the customer if a recalibration of the ADAS is required, and if a recalibration is performed, it must meet or exceed the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. To properly recalibrate the ADAS, the facility must have equipment, tooling, and repair procedures that meet or exceed the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications.
Additionally, if the recalibration is not performed or completed successfully, the facility must inform the customer and their insurer that the recalibration was not successful and that the vehicle should be taken to a manufacturer-certified dealership or a qualified facility capable of performing the recalibration to meet the manufacturer’s specifications. The law also restricts the facility from billing or charging for services that are not performed under the vehicle’s manufacturer specifications, ensuring that customers receive the necessary services to ensure safe and effective repair or replacement of auto glass for vehicles equipped with ADAS. Violations of the law are subject to a civil penalty.
